Avis Product Options, Variants vs WOW Product Optionsfor Shopify (2026)
In 2026, when choosing a Shopify app for product options and variants, merchants have two choices: Avis Product Options, Variants and WOW Product Options. Avis boasts a perfect 5/5 rating based on a substantial 1366 reviews, suggesting widespread satisfaction and reliability. WOW Product Options, while highlighting its ability to 'create unlimited product options' and enhance UX to 'boost store revenue,' has a lower rating of 4.7/5 and a significantly smaller number of reviews (3). This suggests it may be newer or less widely adopted, but the description emphasizes a wide array of custom option elements, including text fields, image and color swatches, dropdowns and much more. WOW Product Options positions itself towards merchants needing a highly customizable experience with its claim to offer '15+ option elements' organized into 'sets'. Its value proposition centers on enabling personalized product choices and infinite selection possibilities, aimed at improving UX and driving revenue. Avis Product Options, lacking a detailed description, focuses primarily on product variants. While both apps share the 'Custom products' and 'Product variants' Shopify categories, WOW's emphasis on a wide variety of custom fields including color swatches and file uploads points to it targeting businesses that require significant product customization features and the importance of visual options. However, with so few reviews, judging its true effectiveness is difficult compared to Avis.

Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing stability and proven reliability with a focus on general product variants, Avis Product Options, Variants is the safer bet, given its extremely positive rating and large number of reviews. Its track record strongly suggests a positive user experience. However, for merchants needing a high degree of product personalization, advanced custom options like color swatches and file uploads, and organized option sets, WOW Product Options presents an appealing solution. However, given its extremely small review base, thorough testing and consideration of its potential limitations are crucial before adopting it.
Common Questions
Which app is likely easier to use based on the provided data?
Based on the limited information available, it's difficult to definitively say which app is easier to use. Avis Product Options, Variants likely has a more intuitive interface due to its widespread adoption and positive reviews. WOW Product Options focuses on complex features like custom field sets which may increase set-up complexity.
Which app provides more product customization options?
WOW Product Options explicitly advertises '15+ option elements' including features like textboxes, file uploads, and color swatches, suggesting a higher degree of customization compared to Avis, which does not specify these details.
Which app is the riskier choice?
WOW Product Options is the riskier choice because of the extremely low number of reviews. While its feature set may be appealing, the lack of user feedback makes it difficult to assess its performance and reliability.
Is the higher rating of Avis always better?
Not necessarily. While a higher rating is generally preferred, the number of reviews is also crucial. A higher rating based on a large number of reviews, like Avis, is more statistically significant and indicative of broader satisfaction than a slightly lower rating based on only a handful of reviews, like WOW.
What should a merchant do before selecting WOW Product Options?
Before selecting WOW Product Options, a merchant should thoroughly test the app's functionality, particularly the custom option elements and option set management. Contacting the app developer to ask questions about its support and future development plans is also advisable. If a free trial is available, make sure to thoroughly test and configure the app before subscribing to a paid plan.
