Avoid Returns Pro by Cypher vs Shipping Protection —Shipcheckfor Shopify (2026)
Avoid Returns Pro by Cypher and Shipping Protection — Shipcheck are both Shopify apps aiming to address return-related concerns for merchants, but they approach the problem from drastically different angles. Avoid Returns Pro focuses on preventing returns in the first place by offering customers discounts for forgoing their return eligibility. It positions itself as a proactive solution to reduce return hassle by directly incentivizing customers to keep their purchases. On the other hand, Shipping Protection — Shipcheck focuses on mitigating the financial impact of unavoidable issues like lost, damaged, or stolen packages. It provides a means for customers to insure their orders, offsetting the costs associated with shipping-related incidents. Avoid Returns Pro's target audience seems to be merchants struggling with high return rates and looking for a direct method to reduce them by affecting purchase decisions. Shipping Protection — Shipcheck is suited to merchants who want to offer their customers peace of mind regarding shipping issues, protect their profit margins from shipping losses, and even generate additional revenue. The significant difference lies in their approaches: one prevents returns through discounts, while the other manages the financial fallout of shipping problems through insurance-like protection.

Our Verdict
Shipping Protection — Shipcheck appears to be the stronger choice for most merchants in 2026. Its high rating and substantial number of reviews suggest that it's a well-received and effective app. It provides a valuable service to customers by insuring their orders against shipping mishaps, while also offering merchants a way to offset losses and potentially generate extra income.
Avoid Returns Pro is a very risky installation at this time. The app has no reviews or ratings, making it difficult to assess its reliability and effectiveness. While the concept of incentivizing customers to avoid returns is interesting, the lack of social proof makes it a less attractive option compared to Shipping Protection, at least until it establishes a credible reputation.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Based on the descriptions, Avoid Returns Pro's setup is likely simpler, involving adding a widget to the product page. Shipping Protection requires more integration across the cart, checkout, and thank you page.
Which app is better for increasing customer trust?
Shipping Protection — Shipcheck explicitly focuses on building customer trust by offering shipping insurance. Avoid Returns Pro indirectly affects trust by potentially creating a more seamless transaction experience if it reduces returns.
Which app generates revenue directly?
Shipping Protection — Shipcheck allows merchants to charge customers for shipping protection, directly generating revenue. Avoid Returns Pro doesn't directly generate revenue but aims to reduce costs associated with returns.
Does Avoid Returns Pro guarantee a reduction in returns?
Avoid Returns Pro offers incentives for customers to opt out of returns, but it doesn't guarantee a reduction. Customer behavior can still vary.
Which app requires more ongoing management?
Shipping Protection— Shipcheck likely requires ongoing monitoring of claims and adjustments to insurance pricing tiers. Avoid Returns Pro might require periodic review of product selection and discount levels but is probably less intensive overall.
