AW Store Locator vs Whatsapp Chat by SCfor Shopify (2026)
AW Store Locator and Whatsapp Chat by SC both aim to improve the customer experience on Shopify, but they address fundamentally different needs. AW Store Locator focuses on merchants with physical stores or dealer networks. It enables customers to easily find nearby locations and provides location management tools. Its strength lies in its mapping and store management features, including unlimited locations, customizable map styles, and auto-detection of user location. Whatsapp Chat by SC, in contrast, addresses online customer service. It enables direct communication with customers via WhatsApp, aiming to boost sales and improve satisfaction through real-time support. The primary distinction lies in the type of business each app serves. AW Store Locator caters to businesses with a physical presence or those needing to direct customers to dealer locations. Its features are geared towards managing and showcasing these physical locations. Whatsapp Chat by SC is suited for any online store seeking to improve customer service responsiveness and engagement through direct messaging. The apps also differ significantly in their social proof. While both have perfect ratings, AW Store Locator boasts significantly more reviews, suggesting a more established presence and wider adoption.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily operating online who want to improve their customer service response times and engagement, Whatsapp Chat by SC is the better choice. Its WhatsApp integration allows for direct, real-time communication, which can lead to higher customer satisfaction and increased sales. However, for merchants who rely on physical stores or work with a network of dealers, AW Store Locator is the clear winner. Its robust location management features and customizable map interface make it easy for customers to find nearby locations, ultimately driving foot traffic to those stores.
While both apps share the 'Selling in person' category, this is somewhat misleading. AW Store Locator is specifically *about* selling in person by directing customers to physical locations. Whatsapp Chat's connection is less direct, potentially helping finalize in-person purchases through support, but not explicitly location-driven.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Based on the description, Whatsapp Chat by SC likely offers a simpler setup process, focusing primarily on WhatsApp integration. AW Store Locator likely requires more configuration to input and manage store locations.
Which app is more scalable?
AW Store Locator is explicitly designed to handle unlimited store locations, making it more scalable for businesses with extensive physical networks. The scalability of Whatsapp Chat depends on the capacity of the merchant's customer support team.
Can I use both apps together?
Potentially, but they address different needs. A merchant with physical stores *could* use both to offer location finding *and* real-time chat support, but this requires managing and paying for both apps.
How does AW Store Locator handle international locations?
The description doesn't explicitly mention international locations, but 'Unlimited Store Locations' implies it can handle locations anywhere, assuming accurate address input is possible.
Does Whatsapp Chat by SC support multiple agents?
The app description doesn't mention multi-agent support. This would depend on the capabilities of the connected WhatsApp Business account.
