Axon vs Compose ‑ A/B Testingfor Shopify (2026)
Axon and Compose ‑ A/B Testing both aim to optimize Shopify stores, but they tackle entirely different problems. Axon focuses on customer acquisition by leveraging in-app advertising within mobile games, promising access to a massive audience of over 1 billion daily active users. It emphasizes ease of use with automatic pixel tracking and product catalog syncing, making it appealing to merchants seeking a hands-off approach to expanding their reach beyond traditional channels. Compose, on the other hand, is dedicated to conversion rate optimization (CRO) through A/B testing. Compose provides merchants with flexible, no-code A/B testing capabilities across themes, product pages, and landing pages. It caters to businesses of all sizes, offering unlimited experiments and variants, alongside audience segmentation and custom trigger conditions. While Axon focuses on bringing new customers *to* the store, Compose works to improve the experience *on* the store to increase sales and conversion rates of existing traffic. The two apps are complementary in their approach to improving a Shopify store's overall performance.

Our Verdict
Axon is ideal for Shopify merchants primarily concerned with acquiring new customers and willing to explore mobile in-app advertising as a channel. Its ease of setup makes it a quick win for those wanting to test the waters without extensive technical overhead. The low number of reviews suggests it is newer or niche compared to other acquisition methods.
Compose ‑ A/B Testing is the better choice for merchants prioritizing the optimization of their existing website traffic. Its comprehensive A/B testing features, including theme testing and code editing, provide the flexibility needed to refine the user experience and drive higher conversion rates. For merchants already drawing a reasonable amount of traffic, Compose offers the tools to maximize their sales from that traffic.
