AZ Color Swatch Variant Option vs Camouflage: Hide Sold Variantsfor Shopify (2026)
AZ Color Swatch Variant Option and Camouflage: Hide Sold Variants are both Shopify apps with perfect 5/5 ratings, but they cater to vastly different needs and target audiences. AZ Color Swatch Variant Option (implied function) likely focuses on enhancing the visual representation of product variants, allowing customers to easily select options like colors or patterns using visually appealing swatches. Given the limited information (13 reviews), it is likely a newer or niche app focused on presentation of product options. This positions it as a tool for merchants prioritizing visual merchandising and improved customer experience through enhanced product presentation. In contrast, Camouflage: Hide Sold Variants addresses the problem of customer frustration caused by sold-out variants being visible. Camouflage, with its significantly larger review base (233 reviews), is clearly a more established solution for managing product variant visibility based on inventory. It allows merchants to automatically hide, disable, or style sold-out variants, preventing customers from selecting unavailable items. This app is positioned as a solution for improving the customer experience by preventing frustration, streamlining the buying process, and potentially increasing sales by directing customers towards available products. Its key differentiators are the rules-based hiding options, including country, customer tags, inventory level, and the flexibility to work with customized themes.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily focused on enhancing the visual appeal of their product variants and providing a more intuitive way for customers to select options (like colors or patterns), AZ Color Swatch Variant Option (if indeed that is its functionality) might be a suitable choice. However, its limited review count suggests it could be a newer or less widely adopted app.
For merchants struggling with customer frustration due to sold-out variants and seeking a robust solution for managing product visibility based on inventory levels, location, or customer segments, Camouflage: Hide Sold Variants is the clear winner. Its large number of positive reviews and comprehensive feature set (rule-based hiding, theme compatibility) make it the preferred option for inventory-driven visibility management.
