Our Verdict
The choice between B2stock: Back In Stock notify and SimpleSync » Sync by SKU depends entirely on the merchant's specific needs. If a merchant struggles with frequent stockouts and wants to recapture lost sales by engaging customers and offering pre-orders, B2stock is the clear choice. Its higher rating and focus on customer communication make it a strong contender.
On the other hand, if a merchant sells essentially the same product under multiple listings (e.g., unisex items marketed separately to men and women) or manages simple bundles with tracked inventory, SimpleSync provides a straightforward solution for keeping inventory synchronized. While its rating is lower, its targeted functionality can be invaluable for these specific use cases. Merchants *not* selling similar products under multiple listings have no need for SimpleSync.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
SimpleSync likely has a simpler setup since its functionality is highly specific. B2stock, with its email customization options, may require more configuration.
Can B2stock help prevent overselling?
While B2stock helps manage customer expectations during stockouts, it doesn't directly prevent overselling. It manages *after* the product is out of stock.
Does SimpleSync offer email notifications to customers?
No, SimpleSync focuses solely on inventory synchronization and does not have customer-facing email notification features.
What if I sell bundles of products? Which app is better?
If your bundles involve items that share the same tracked inventory, SimpleSync *can* help. If you are offering a pre-order for a bundle that is currently out of stock, but do not require inventory to be shared, B2stock may be more beneficial.
Which app requires more ongoing maintenance?
B2stock potentially requires more ongoing maintenance due to the need to manage email templates, subscriber lists, and pre-order/backorder settings. SimpleSync, once configured, should require minimal maintenance as long as the SKUs are correctly assigned.
