Bablic Translation vs Geolocation & Markets—Selectyfor Shopify (2026)
Bablic Translation and Geolocation & Markets—Selecty offer distinct approaches to internationalizing a Shopify store. Bablic focuses primarily on website translation, providing tools for manual, machine, and professional translation, along with SEO optimization for translated content. Its visual editor and image/video localization features aim to create a seamless translated experience. Geolocation & Markets—Selecty, on the other hand, emphasizes geolocation-based market selection, currency conversion, and language switching. It leverages IP detection to automatically direct users to the appropriate market or allows manual selection via selectors and switchers. The primary difference lies in their scope. Bablic is for merchants who want deep, comprehensive translation of their website content. Geolocation & Markets—Selecty is for merchants leveraging Shopify Markets or Global-e and want to guide users to the correct market experience and enable currency and language switching. Geolocation & Markets—Selecty also connects to expansion stores, hinting at capabilities beyond what Bablic offers for multi-store internationalization. While both apps aim to increase global sales, they do so using fundamentally different strategies.

Our Verdict
If a merchant's priority is to deeply translate their website, including images and videos, and optimize it for international SEO, Bablic Translation is likely the better choice. Its visual editor provides granular control over the translation process. However, the low number of reviews compared to Selecty should be considered.
If a merchant's primary goal is to leverage Shopify Markets or Global-e Managed Markets, efficiently direct customers to the correct market based on their location, and provide currency and language switching capabilities, Geolocation & Markets—Selecty is the superior option. Its focus on geolocation and market selection is well-suited for businesses utilizing Shopify's multi-market features.
Common Questions
Which app is better for SEO?
Bablic Translation explicitly mentions SEO optimization with translated URLs, subdomains, and meta tags. Geolocation & Markets—Selecty does not explicitly state SEO benefits, but directing users to the correct market could indirectly improve localized search rankings.
Which app is easier to use?
Both apps claim to be easy to use. Bablic highlights its 'Super easy Visual Editor,' while Geolocation & Markets—Selecty emphasizes automatic redirects and selectors. It is difficult to definitively say which is easier without hands-on testing.
Do either of these apps offer automatic, AI-powered translation?
Bablic Translation offers machine translation as an option, implying an automatic process. Geolocation & Markets—Selecty focuses on connecting to the correct market, which would then rely on Shopify Markets' translation settings (if any).
Which app is better for a small business just starting to expand internationally?
Geolocation & Markets—Selecty might be a better starting point, especially if they are already leveraging Shopify Markets, as it provides a straightforward approach to market selection and currency/language switching with minimal initial setup. Bablic requires a more involved translation process.
Which app handles currency conversion?
Geolocation & Markets—Selecty prominently features currency switchers, allowing users to select a local currency. Bablic doesn't mention currency conversion directly, implying this is handled separately or is less of a focus.
