Backup Labs vs IPQS Bot & Fraud Preventionfor Shopify (2026)
Backup Labs and IPQS Bot & Fraud Prevention cater to entirely different security needs for Shopify merchants. Backup Labs positions itself as a data protection and recovery solution, focusing on safeguarding store data against loss or damage through automatic backups and easy restoration. Its key strengths lie in data security (Swiss storage) and ease of use, promising one-click restores and automatic backups of products, orders, themes, and images. It's geared towards all merchants who want to mitigate the risk of data loss due to human error, app conflicts, or unforeseen platform issues. IPQS Bot & Fraud Prevention, on the other hand, is designed to protect against malicious actors and fraudulent activities. It aims to reduce chargebacks and prevent fake accounts through features like fraud risk scoring and automated order cancellation. This app specifically targets merchants vulnerable to bots, payment fraud, and other forms of malicious attacks. The lack of user reviews currently makes it difficult to accurately gauge its performance and ease of implementation.

Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing data security and the ability to quickly recover from data loss, Backup Labs is the clear choice. Its established positive rating and focused feature set make it a reliable option. Merchants experiencing significant issues with fraud, bots, or chargebacks might consider IPQS Bot & Fraud Prevention, but should proceed cautiously given the lack of user reviews. Testing with a smaller volume of transactions after a trial or understanding support availability will be important. Ultimately, these tools address different problems, so depending on your store's needs you might need one, both, or neither of these apps.
