Our Verdict
BackupMaster is the clear choice for merchants primarily concerned with safeguarding their store's data. Its automated backups, restore capabilities, and SOC 2 certification make it a robust solution for businesses of all sizes, particularly those handling sensitive data or requiring compliance certifications. CheckPop is more suitable for merchants experiencing chargebacks related to terms and conditions or needing a simple solution to ensure customers acknowledge legal policies. Its ease of use and focus on acceptance tracking make it a good fit for smaller businesses or those just starting to address their legal compliance needs.
While both apps address security in different ways, they cater to distinct needs. A merchant might even consider using *both* apps for a comprehensive approach: BackupMaster to protect their data and CheckPop to mitigate legal risks. However, if budget is a constraint, BackupMaster is generally the more crucial investment for most merchants, as data loss can have more devastating consequences than chargebacks, assuming the merchant has otherwise clear terms and conditions.
