Our Verdict
The choice between BackupMaster and TrustedSite depends entirely on the merchant's priorities. If data security and business continuity are paramount, especially for stores with complex data structures or regulated industries, BackupMaster is the clear choice. The SOC 2 certification offers significant reassurance. However, if the primary goal is to boost sales and reduce cart abandonment by building trust with potential customers, then TrustedSite is the better option. New stores or those with limited brand recognition will likely benefit more from TrustedSite's trust-building features. Ultimately, both apps can be valuable, and some merchants may choose to use both for comprehensive security and sales optimization.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
TrustedSite likely has a simpler setup process, as it primarily involves installing the app and following the certification steps. BackupMaster requires configuring backup schedules and storage options, which might be slightly more technical.
Which app is more expensive in the long run?
Without pricing data, it's impossible to say definitively. However, backup solutions often scale in price based on storage used or the complexity of the store, so BackupMaster might become more expensive for larger stores.
Can TrustedSite help protect against data loss?
No, TrustedSite primarily focuses on building trust and improving customer perception. It does not provide data backup or recovery services.
Does BackupMaster offer any features to improve conversion rates?
Indirectly, yes. By ensuring data is backed up, BackupMaster minimizes the risk of data loss, outages, and other situations that can damage customer trust and lead to lost sales in the long run. But it doesn't directly add trust badges or other conversion-focused features.
Which app is better for a brand-new Shopify store?
TrustedSite is arguably more beneficial for a new store. Building trust is crucial for new businesses, and TrustedSite's trust badges can help alleviate customer concerns and drive sales. While data backup is important, it's less critical in the early stages compared to establishing credibility.
