Barcodify ‑ Customer Selector vs Doppelgangerfor Shopify (2026)
Barcodify ‑ Customer Selector and Doppelganger, while both categorized under 'Customer loyalty', address fundamentally different pain points for Shopify merchants. Barcodify is positioned as a solution for brick-and-mortar stores seeking to streamline their loyalty programs and customer identification process through barcode technology. It allows for quick customer lookup at the POS, custom mobile wallet cards, and barcode distribution. Doppelganger, on the other hand, targets a backend data issue: the existence of duplicate customer accounts which skew Customer Lifetime Value (CLTV) calculations. It focuses on identifying, linking, and merging these duplicate profiles to provide a more accurate representation of customer value.

Our Verdict
Barcodify ‑ Customer Selector is the clear choice for merchants primarily operating physical stores that want to improve their loyalty program experience. Its ability to quickly identify customers at the POS and offer mobile wallet integration offers tangible benefits for in-person sales. Doppelganger addresses a more specific, data-oriented problem. While its lower rating should be considered, merchants struggling with inaccurate CLTV due to duplicate accounts might find value in its account merging capabilities. A lower rating coupled with a small number of reviews suggests caution is warranted before committing to Doppelganger.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to use?
Based on the feature set, Barcodify is likely easier to implement for physical stores. Doppelganger's value hinges on how well it identifies duplicate accounts, and might require more configuration.
Which app is more valuable for an online-only store?
Doppelganger is potentially more valuable for an online-only store, as it addresses the common issue of duplicate accounts created during online checkout processes. Barcodify's core features are more relevant to brick-and-mortar environments.
Does Barcodify improve CLTV?
Indirectly, Barcodify can improve CLTV by making loyalty programs more seamless and engaging for customers in physical stores, leading to increased repeat purchases. However, it doesn't directly address inaccurate data like Doppelganger.
Is customer data secure with Doppelganger?
Doppelganger claims to be privacy-focused and states users remain in control of their customer's data. Further research into their privacy policy is recommended to ensure compliance.
Which app is better for overall customer relationship management (CRM)?
Neither app is a full-fledged CRM. Barcodify enhances POS interactions, while Doppelganger cleans customer data. A dedicated CRM would offer a broader range of features.
