Basic Wishlist vs Loyoly ‑ Loyalty and Referralfor Shopify (2026)
Basic Wishlist and Loyoly - Loyalty and Referral both aim to enhance the customer experience but tackle different aspects. Basic Wishlist focuses on improving convenience and conversion by allowing customers to save desired products to a wishlist, streamlining the path to purchase. It targets merchants looking for a simple solution to reduce abandoned carts and increase engagement with specific products. Loyoly, on the other hand, offers a comprehensive loyalty and referral program designed to foster long-term customer relationships and generate user-generated content. It caters to merchants wanting to build a strong brand community and leverage existing customers for acquisition. The core difference lies in their functionality. Basic Wishlist provides a basic shopping cart save feature while Loyoly emphasizes engagement, rewards, and referrals. Loyoly's broad suite of features, including customizable loyalty programs, referral incentives, and numerous missions to encourage UGC, represents a more advanced and holistic customer loyalty solution than the limited feature set offered by Basic Wishlist. The large disparity in ratings and reviews also indicates significant differences in user satisfaction and perceived value.

Our Verdict
For merchants needing a simple and quick solution for customers to save products and potentially increase conversion rates directly related to wishlist creation, Basic Wishlist might be a basic solution. However, given its low rating and lack of reviews, it carries higher risk.
Loyoly is the clear winner for merchants looking to invest in a comprehensive loyalty and referral program. Its high rating, substantial review count, and wide range of features focused on building brand loyalty and collecting UGC make it a much more robust and valuable option, especially in the increasingly competitive landscape of 2026. While it might require more effort to set up and manage, the potential return on investment in terms of customer retention and brand advocacy is significantly higher. The vast feature difference and substantially better ratings and review counts point to Loyoly being the better overall solution in most cases.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Based on the descriptions, Basic Wishlist likely has a simpler setup due to its fewer features. Loyoly claims a 3-minute setup, suggesting it's also user-friendly, but its more extensive customization options may require more time to configure fully.
Which app is better for generating user-generated content (UGC)?
Loyoly is explicitly designed for UGC generation, offering over 40 missions to encourage customers to create and share content. Basic Wishlist does not directly facilitate UGC creation.
Which app is better for increasing immediate sales?
Basic Wishlist aims to improve conversions by allowing customers to easily return to saved products, potentially leading to more immediate sales. Loyoly focuses on long-term loyalty, which can lead to repeat purchases over time.
Which app is more likely to retain customers long-term?
Loyoly's loyalty and referral program is specifically designed for long-term customer retention, rewarding customers for their engagement and advocacy. Basic Wishlist may indirectly contribute to retention by improving the shopping experience, but it's not its primary focus.
If I only have a very small budget, which app is a better starting point?
Without pricing information, it's impossible to definitively say. However, given its limited feature set, Basic Wishlist is *likely* to be more affordable. However, it's crucial to factor in the potential cost of future migration if a more comprehensive solution becomes necessary later. Weigh that risk and potential cost against any assumed lower pricing upfront.
