BEAST Currency Converter vs Geolocation Orbefor Shopify (2026)
BEAST Currency Converter and Geolocation Orbe are both Shopify apps aimed at internationalizing stores, but they approach the problem from different angles. BEAST Currency Converter focuses primarily on automatic currency conversion based on customer location, offering a quick and easy solution for merchants wanting to display prices in local currencies. Its main selling point is its simplicity and ease of use, promising seamless integration with any theme. However, it acknowledges limitations with Shopify's checkout process and provides workarounds to inform customers about potential currency differences. Geolocation Orbe takes a broader approach, targeting merchants with multiple expansion stores set up through Shopify Markets or Global-e. It centers around geolocation and language detection to redirect customers to the most appropriate version of the store based on their location and browser language. While it also handles currency, its strength lies in providing a fully localized experience, including product displays, language, and store redirects. This makes it more suitable for merchants with complex international setups and a need for a fully localized customer journey.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking a straightforward currency converter with minimal setup, BEAST Currency Converter is a good choice. It provides a quick solution for displaying prices in local currencies and is suitable for businesses new to international sales or those without complex global setups. However, the workaround required for checkout currency discrepancies might be a drawback for some.
Geolocation Orbe is the better option for merchants with established international operations using Shopify Markets or Global-e. Its comprehensive geolocation and store redirection capabilities offer a more seamless and fully localized experience for customers. While it requires a more involved setup, the benefits of directing customers to the correct version of the store and providing a fully localized experience outweigh the complexity for larger, internationally focused businesses.
