BEAST Currency Converter vs MLV Auto Currency Switcherfor Shopify (2026)
BEAST Currency Converter and MLV Auto Currency Switcher are both Shopify apps designed to help merchants sell internationally by displaying prices in customers' local currencies. BEAST Currency Converter positions itself as an easy-to-use solution that works 'out of the box' with any theme and automatically converts prices based on location. It emphasizes a simple setup process and aims to reduce cart abandonment by showing local prices. A key limitation, acknowledged in the description, is the inability to convert prices on the Shopify checkout page, which BEAST addresses with cart page messages and hover-over functionality. MLV Auto Currency Switcher, on the other hand, focuses on a more customizable and visually appealing experience, offering design options with country flags and rounded pricing. It also highlights seamless integration and Shopify Payments support, claiming customers can checkout in their local currency, a critical advantage if accurate. Our Verdict
If a merchant prioritizes simple setup and automatic functionality with minimal configuration, BEAST Currency Converter is the better choice. Its 'out of the box' approach allows for quick implementation. However, merchants who want a more polished and customizable international shopping experience, and especially those using Shopify Payments and requiring checkout currency conversion, should opt for MLV Auto Currency Switcher. The ability to use flags and rounding offers greater control and brand integration. The reported support for Shopify Payments for local currency checkout is a key differentiator that will likely sway merchants focused on optimizing the entire transaction experience.
