Bespoke Shipping vs JsRates: Custom Shipping Ratesfor Shopify (2026)
Bespoke Shipping and JsRates: Custom Shipping Rates both aim to solve complex shipping rate challenges for Shopify merchants in 2026. Bespoke Shipping, with its significantly higher number of reviews (146 vs. 13), suggests a broader appeal and longer track record, even with a perfect 5/5 rating like JsRates. JsRates, on the other hand, positions itself as a highly customizable and flexible solution leveraging JavaScript. It caters to merchants with very specific and potentially unique shipping logic requirements beyond standard Shopify's capabilities. JsRates' key strength lies in its JavaScript-based approach, enabling integration with third-party APIs, use of distance calculations, zip code targeting, metafields, tags, customer data, and even complex rules derived from spreadsheets. This power comes with a higher barrier to entry. Bespoke Shipping isn't explicitly described, but its higher adoption rate implies a potentially simpler, more user-friendly interface or a focus on more common shipping scenarios. JsRates specifically mentions support for Shopify Plus, indicating a focus on larger, more complex businesses that require the highest degree of customization and API integration.

Our Verdict
For most merchants seeking a straightforward and well-tested shipping rate solution, Bespoke Shipping is likely the better choice. The high number of reviews suggests a reliable and user-friendly experience. However, merchants with unique or highly complex shipping needs – such as those dependent on real-time data from external APIs, needing granular control based on customer segments, or already proficient in JavaScript – will find JsRates: Custom Shipping Rates to be invaluable. The JavaScript-based approach offers unmatched flexibility and control, making it especially suitable for Shopify Plus merchants with complex logistical requirements. The tradeoff is a steeper learning curve and potentially more technical setup.
Ultimately, choose Bespoke Shipping if you prefer a battle-tested, easier-to-use app. Choose JsRates if you need maximum shipping rate customization and have the resources or expertise to leverage its JavaScript capabilities.
