BGN EUR Dual Currency Display vs Localefor Shopify (2026)
BGN EUR Dual Currency Display and Locale, while both categorized under 'Currency and translation' in the Shopify app store, cater to vastly different merchant needs. BGN EUR Dual Currency Display is a highly focused app designed for merchants selling in Bulgaria or targeting Bulgarian customers, providing a simple, one-click solution to display prices in both Bulgarian Lev and Euro. Its strength lies in its ease of use and automatic conversion capabilities, requiring no coding or maintenance. In contrast, Locale is a more sophisticated app geared towards merchants with a global audience who need comprehensive translation and localization across their entire store. It acts as a connector between a Shopify store and a Translation Management System (TMS), automating the process of translating store content for multiple languages.

Our Verdict
For merchants specifically needing to display prices in both Bulgarian Lev and Euro, BGN EUR Dual Currency Display is the clear choice. Its ease of use, automatic conversion, and lack of maintenance make it a simple and effective solution. However, if a merchant needs to translate their store into multiple languages to reach a global audience, Locale is the more appropriate option. Although it requires more setup and integration with a TMS, it offers comprehensive translation and localization capabilities that BGN EUR Dual Currency Display simply does not provide.
Common Questions
What happens if I install both apps?
Installing both apps is likely redundant and could lead to conflicts. BGN EUR Dual Currency Display only handles BGN/EUR currency conversion, while Locale focuses on full store translation. Choose the app that aligns with your specific needs. If your store is primarily in Bulgarian and you just need to display EUR prices, BGN EUR Dual Currency Display is sufficient. If you need multiple languages, Locale is needed, making BGN EUR Dual Currency Display unnecessary.
Does BGN EUR Dual Currency Display translate text, or just currency?
BGN EUR Dual Currency Display only handles currency conversion; it does not translate any text on your store. It specifically focuses on displaying prices in both Bulgarian Lev and Euro using the official exchange rate.
How do I use Locale, if I don't already have a TMS?
To effectively use Locale, you need to have an existing Translation Management System (TMS) in place. Locale acts as a connector between your Shopify store and your TMS, facilitating the automated transfer of content for translation. Without a TMS, Locale will not function.
What if I want to display prices in USD and EUR?
BGN EUR Dual Currency Display is specifically designed for BGN and EUR. You would need a different app that supports USD and EUR conversion, or an app that integrates with a more comprehensive currency converter like some international multi-currency apps do.
Is Locale hard to set up and use for a non-technical person?
Setting up and using Locale can be challenging for non-technical individuals. Integrating with a Translation Management System (TMS) requires some technical knowledge, and the overall process is more complex compared to BGN EUR Dual Currency Display's one-click setup.
