BigBuy ‑ Dropshipping carriers vs Dr Cart Shipping Rates & Rulesfor Shopify (2026)
BigBuy ‑ Dropshipping carriers and Dr Cart Shipping Rates & Rules are two Shopify apps targeting shipping rate management, but they cater to drastically different needs and business models. BigBuy focuses specifically on synchronizing with BigBuy's dropshipping product database and automatically calculating shipping costs using major couriers for those products. Its primary strength lies in its real-time synchronization of shipping costs for BigBuy's product catalog. In contrast, Dr Cart Shipping Rates & Rules is a comprehensive shipping rate calculator offering granular control over shipping costs based on a wide array of parameters, including product attributes, location, and cart details. Its strength is in its flexibility and ability to define complex shipping rules. The target audience for BigBuy ‑ Dropshipping carriers is clearly merchants exclusively selling products from the BigBuy dropshipping catalog. Its value proposition centers on automated shipping cost calculation. Dr Cart Shipping Rates & Rules, however, targets a broader range of merchants needing sophisticated shipping rate management. Its value proposition is increased control and customization, allowing merchants to tailor shipping costs based on a vast array of conditions to optimize profitability and customer satisfaction. A key difference is that BigBuy integrates directly with the BigBuy product catalog, whereas Dr Cart offers carrier integration in addition to more generic conditions.

Our Verdict
For Shopify merchants exclusively using BigBuy's dropshipping catalog, BigBuy ‑ Dropshipping carriers offers a simple, automated solution for displaying shipping costs. However, the app's low rating and limited feature set compared to Dr Cart should give merchants pause. For all other merchants, especially those with complex shipping requirements, the superior features, customizability, and high rating of Dr Cart Shipping Rates & Rules make it the clear choice. Dr Cart provides far more control and flexibility in defining shipping rates, although this power comes at the cost of a potentially steeper learning curve.
Considering the limited scope of BigBuy and the vast differences in ratings, Dr Cart is the better investment for the vast majority of Shopify store owners. Only those completely invested in the BigBuy ecosystem should even consider the BigBuy app. The negative reviews surrounding BigBuy also raise concerns over reliability and support.
