BigBuy ‑ Dropshipping carriers vs ShipX ‑ Shipping Rates & Rulesfor Shopify (2026)
BigBuy ‑ Dropshipping carriers and ShipX ‑ Shipping Rates & Rules are Shopify apps that provide shipping rate calculation, but they cater to very different segments of the e-commerce market. BigBuy focuses specifically on providing shipping costs for products sourced directly from the BigBuy database, integrating directly with several major couriers like DHL and UPS. Its value proposition is automatically providing shipping costs within the cart for BigBuy products. However, it only works for products listed on BigBuy's platform and is constrained by that limitation. ShipX, on the other hand, offers a much more versatile and customizable shipping rate solution. It supports item and origin-based rates, integrates with multiple shipping providers (Starshipit, Sendle, USPS, etc.), and uses advanced rules based on cart details, product attributes, and location. Its AI-based packaging algorithm and rate blending features further enhance its capabilities. ShipX’s advantage lies in its flexibility and its ability to handle complex shipping scenarios, but it requires the Shopify Carrier Calculated Shipping API and a greater degree of configuration and understanding from the merchant.

Our Verdict
For merchants exclusively dropshipping products from the BigBuy platform, BigBuy ‑ Dropshipping carriers offers a streamlined, albeit limited, solution for automated shipping cost calculation. However, the extremely low rating and lack of reviews is a major red flag. Due to the limited functionality, the app is only useful for a very niche segment of the market and users need to be aware of this. Its value is tied directly to using the BigBuy product database.
ShipX ‑ Shipping Rates & Rules is the clear winner for the vast majority of Shopify merchants. Its high rating, extensive reviews, and comprehensive feature set make it a far more robust and versatile solution for calculating shipping rates. Although it requires more setup and understanding, its ability to handle complex shipping scenarios, integrate with multiple carriers, and use AI-powered packaging makes it the superior choice for merchants seeking a flexible and scalable shipping solution. The requirement for Shopify's Carrier Calculated Shipping API might add a small cost for some stores, but the benefits of ShipX far outweigh this potential drawback.
