Binkey Bursements vs Tevello Courses & Communitiesfor Shopify (2026)
Binkey Bursements and Tevello Courses & Communities are both Shopify apps categorized under 'Digital goods and services - Other', but they cater to vastly different merchant needs and business models. Binkey Bursements focuses on streamlining vision insurance reimbursements for customers, allowing them to submit claims directly after checkout. This aims to boost sales in the eyewear market by simplifying the out-of-network reimbursement process. On the other hand, Tevello Courses & Communities empowers merchants to sell online courses, digital products, and build communities directly within their Shopify store, enhancing customer engagement and driving repeat purchases through educational content and community features. The core difference lies in their value proposition. Binkey targets merchants selling eyewear and seeks to improve the customer experience by handling the complexities of vision insurance. Its strength lies in its integration with major vision plans and seamless checkout process. Conversely, Tevello aims to transform e-commerce stores into platforms for selling educational content and fostering communities. Its strength is its comprehensive suite of tools for course creation, community building, and product upselling, all integrated within Shopify. Therefore, the suitability of each app heavily depends on the merchant's product offering and business goals.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily selling eyewear and looking to provide a better customer experience by simplifying vision insurance reimbursements, Binkey Bursements is the more suitable choice. Its specialized focus on this specific aspect of the eyewear market can lead to increased sales and customer satisfaction. However, the limited number of reviews (2) is a significant caveat.
On the other hand, Tevello Courses & Communities is ideal for merchants looking to expand their product offerings with online courses and digital products, build a community around their brand, and drive repeat purchases. The much larger number of reviews (395) suggests it's a more established and widely used solution. Ultimately, the best choice depends entirely on the merchant's specific needs and product focus.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Based on the descriptions, Tevello claims to be easy to use and seamlessly integrates with Shopify themes, suggesting a simpler setup process. Binkey requires contacting their team for setup, implying a more involved process.
Which app has more positive customer feedback?
While both apps have a 5/5 rating, Tevello has significantly more reviews (395) compared to Binkey (2), suggesting broader positive customer sentiment and more validation.
Which app is better for increasing average order value (AOV)?
Both apps have features that could increase AOV. Binkey encourages customers to spend more on eligible items. Tevello allows bundling physical products with courses and upselling, both of which could increase AOV.
Can I use both apps at the same time?
Potentially, but it's unlikely a merchant would need both. They serve distinct purposes. Binkey targets vision insurance claims, while Tevello focuses on courses and community. The merchant must assess if offering both services makes sense for their clientele.
Which app is more suitable for a new Shopify store?
Tevello Courses & Communities, with its greater adoption rate reflected in the higher number of reviews, might be a safer bet for a new store. However, if the store is specifically focused on eyewear and the target audience commonly uses vision insurance, Binkey Bursements might provide a competitive edge despite the low review count.
