BLEND ‑ Store Translation vs Geolocation & Markets—Selectyfor Shopify (2026)
BLEND ‑ Store Translation and Geolocation & Markets—Selecty offer distinct approaches to global e-commerce. BLEND focuses on accurate, high-quality translation services, combining AI-powered machine translation with human expertise to localize store content across 120 languages. This makes it suitable for merchants prioritizing linguistic accuracy and a nuanced brand experience in different locales. Geolocation & Markets—Selecty, on the other hand, concentrates on optimizing the customer's experience based on their location, automatically displaying the appropriate currency, language, and market recommendations. It caters to merchants leveraging Shopify Markets or Global-e Managed Markets, streamlining the purchasing process for international customers. The primary divergence lies in their core functionality: BLEND is a translation service, while Selecty is a geolocation and market adaptation tool. BLEND emphasizes the creation of localized content, while Selecty focuses on directing customers to the correct market and displaying information in their preferred currency and language. The significant disparity in user ratings and review volume also indicates a stark difference in user satisfaction and market adoption. Selecty boasts a much higher rating and a significantly larger number of reviews, suggesting broader appeal and a stronger track record of meeting merchant needs. Ultimately, the choice between the two apps hinges on a merchant's specific needs. If perfect translation accuracy and nuanced localization are paramount, and the merchant is less concerned with automated market redirection, BLEND might be preferable. However, if the merchant is deeply invested in using Shopify Markets and Global-e Managed Markets, and prioritizing automated market selection and currency/language display for an improved customer experience, Selecty is the stronger choice.

Our Verdict
Geolocation & Markets—Selecty is the clear choice for merchants heavily invested in Shopify Markets and Global-e Managed Markets, as it directly enhances the customer experience by streamlining market selection and currency/language display. Its significantly higher rating and large number of positive reviews strongly suggest it effectively solves the problems it addresses. BLEND ‑ Store Translation, while offering a potentially valuable service for merchants needing perfectly accurate translations, suffers from a low rating and very few reviews, suggesting limited market adoption or potential issues with the service.
For merchants who absolutely require flawless, nuanced translations, and are willing to invest the time and resources to oversee the translation process using BLEND's hybrid AI/human approach, it might be a viable option. However, the low user feedback presents a significant risk. In most cases, especially for merchants focused on quickly expanding into new markets and optimizing the customer journey through automatic geolocation, Selecty is the superior choice.
Common Questions
Which app is better for a store that already has translated content but needs to ensure visitors see the right currency and pricing?
Geolocation & Markets—Selecty is better suited as it specializes in currency conversion and presenting the correct prices based on visitor location, regardless of existing translations.
Does BLEND ‑ Store Translation automatically translate new product descriptions as they are added to my store?
The description indicates store content is synchronized automatically, implying that new product descriptions are translated. However, the user satisfaction is questionable with limited reviews. It's crucial to confirm this with BLEND directly.
Can Geolocation & Markets—Selecty be used if I don't use Shopify Markets or Global-e?
While Selecty is optimized for Shopify Markets and Global-e, it can still be used for basic geolocation features like country redirects and currency selection. However, you might not fully utilize its potential without those integrations.
Which app offers better control over the final translated content?
BLEND ‑ Store Translation offers more control over the final translated content because it combines AI with human translators, allowing for review and editing by the store owner. Geolocation & Markets—Selecty primarily focuses on displaying existing content in the correct language and currency.
Is it possible to use both apps together?
Yes, it is technically possible. You could use BLEND to translate your store content, then use Geolocation & Markets—Selecty to ensure customers see the correct language, currency, and market based on their location. However, this might be redundant and complex depending on your specific setup.
