Blox: Fraud Filter & Blacklist vs OTP ‑ CoD Order Verificationfor Shopify (2026)
Blox: Fraud Filter & Blacklist and OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification both aim to reduce fraud on Shopify stores, but they tackle different aspects and cater to distinct merchant needs. Blox focuses on a community-driven approach to identify and block potentially fraudulent customers based on shared blocklists and account grouping, offering a proactive defense against known fraudsters. Its strength lies in leveraging a network effect, where one store's experience protects others. OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification, on the other hand, targets Cash on Delivery (CoD) fraud and Return to Origin (RTO) issues by verifying orders through One-Time Passwords (OTPs) sent via WhatsApp, SMS, or Email. It's a reactive measure, confirming order legitimacy before fulfillment.

Our Verdict
The best choice depends heavily on the merchant's business model and the type of fraud they're experiencing. If a merchant is struggling with general fraud, chargebacks, or suspects repeat offenders, Blox: Fraud Filter & Blacklist, despite having fewer reviews, offers a compelling proposition with its community-based blocklist. However, if the primary problem is fraudulent Cash on Delivery orders and high return rates, particularly in regions like India, Pakistan, the Philippines, or Egypt, then OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification is the better solution. OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification has more reviews, suggesting more adoption, and its specific focus directly addresses a common pain point for businesses reliant on CoD.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Based on the descriptions, both apps seem relatively easy to set up. Blox focuses on automating fraud blocking based on shared data, potentially requiring less manual configuration. OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification boasts "built-in Shopify OTP verification," suggesting a streamlined setup process. Further testing and documentation reviews are needed to definitively determine ease of use.
Does Blox: Fraud Filter & Blacklist require manual review of flagged customers?
Yes, the description indicates that customers flagged by the community blocklist are presented for *review* by the store owner. This means merchants have the final say on whether to block a flagged customer.
Can OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification work for non-CoD orders?
The description strongly suggests it's specifically designed for Cash on Delivery orders. While OTPs could theoretically be used for other types of orders, the app's features and messaging are tailored to CoD verification and RTO reduction.
Which app provides more comprehensive fraud protection?
It depends on the type of fraud. Blox offers broader protection against various fraud types by leveraging a community blocklist. OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification is very specific and focuses only on CoD fraud and RTO issues in certain geographies.
Are there any potential privacy concerns with Blox's community blocklist?
Potentially. Sharing customer data, even if flagged as fraudulent, raises privacy concerns. Merchants should carefully review Blox's privacy policy to understand how data is shared and protected to ensure compliance with relevant data privacy regulations.
