Our Verdict
Choosing between BOLD QuickBooks Sync and EAS EU & UK Compliance depends entirely on a merchant's specific needs. If a merchant's primary concern is integrating their Shopify store with QuickBooks for accounting purposes, BOLD QuickBooks Sync might be a suitable option, but its lower rating warrants further investigation into specific user complaints. However, if the merchant's priority is expanding their business to the EU and UK markets while navigating complex compliance regulations, EAS EU & UK Compliance appears to be the clear winner, given its high rating, comprehensive feature set, and emphasis on automation. Its higher rating also suggests better support and a more streamlined user experience.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to use?
EAS EU & UK Compliance likely focuses more on ease of use, given its goal is to automate complex EU/UK compliance. While BOLD QuickBooks Sync might be straightforward for accounting professionals, the process depends more on how accounting processes are set up. EAS even offers store configuration and onboarding.
Which app is more crucial for expanding internationally?
EAS EU & UK Compliance is explicitly designed to facilitate international expansion into the EU and UK markets by addressing compliance requirements. BOLD QuickBooks Sync doesn't directly assist with international expansion.
Which app is more suited to a small, domestic-only Shopify store?
BOLD QuickBooks Sync could still be valuable for a small, domestic-only Shopify store if the owner wants to integrate with QuickBooks. EAS EU & UK Compliance is only relevant for merchants selling to the EU and UK.
What are the potential downsides of using BOLD QuickBooks Sync?
Given its lower rating, potential downsides of BOLD QuickBooks Sync could include integration issues, data synchronization errors, poor customer support, or a cumbersome user interface. Merchants should read recent reviews to assess current issues.
What happens if I don't use an app like EAS and sell to the EU and UK?
Selling to the EU and UK without addressing compliance requirements (like VAT, IOSS, GPSR, EUDR) can lead to significant penalties, legal issues, and a poor customer experience due to unexpected import fees upon delivery. EAS aims to prevent these problems.
