Bounce Back Redirector vs Currency Converter Bearfor Shopify (2026)
Bounce Back Redirector and Currency Converter Bear are two Shopify apps competing in the Geolocation category, but they address vastly different merchant needs. Bounce Back Redirector aims to manipulate user behavior by redirecting visitors who click the back button, ostensibly to increase engagement and SEO ranking. Its value proposition rests on monetizing 'bounced' traffic and showing alternative offers, though its extremely low rating and minimal reviews suggest potential issues with implementation or user satisfaction. Currency Converter Bear, in contrast, focuses on improving the customer experience by automatically displaying prices in the customer's local currency based on geolocation, boosting global sales potential.

Our Verdict
Based on the available data, Currency Converter Bear is the clear winner for most Shopify merchants, especially those selling internationally. Its overwhelmingly positive reviews and focus on improving customer experience through automatic currency conversion make it a valuable addition. Bounce Back Redirector, on the other hand, presents significant risks. Its extremely low rating and questionable tactic of intercepting the back button raise concerns about user experience and potential damage to brand reputation. It might be suitable for merchants willing to take a significant risk for potentially questionable gains, but thorough testing and a strong ethical consideration are crucial.
Common Questions
Which app is more likely to improve the customer experience?
Currency Converter Bear is designed to improve the customer experience by displaying prices in their local currency, which streamlines the shopping process. Bounce Back Redirector could potentially frustrate customers who are intentionally navigating away from the site.
Which app is better for SEO?
Bounce Back Redirector claims to improve SEO by lowering bounce rates, but this claim is questionable, and manipulating user navigation may be penalized by search engines. Currency Converter Bear can indirectly improve SEO by reducing bounce rates related to currency confusion and improving user engagement on international markets. It's the safer bet for long-term SEO gains.
Is Bounce Back Redirector ethical to use?
The ethics of redirecting users when they click the back button are debatable. Some users may find it intrusive and manipulative. Merchants should carefully consider the potential impact on their brand reputation before implementing such a tactic.
Does Currency Converter Bear require manual currency selection by the user?
No, Currency Converter Bear automatically detects the user's location and displays prices in their local currency. Manual currency selection may be available, but it is not required for the core functionality.
What are the potential downsides of using Bounce Back Redirector?
Potential downsides include a negative user experience leading to decreased customer trust, potential penalties from search engines for manipulating user navigation, and limited effectiveness due to users potentially closing the browser window instead of being redirected.
