BR ‑ Better Reports vs Report Toaster: Custom Reportsfor Shopify (2026)
BR ‑ Better Reports and Report Toaster: Custom Reports are both powerful reporting apps for Shopify merchants aiming to enhance their data analysis. BR ‑ Better Reports emphasizes comprehensive data exploration and a personalized service, offering a complimentary report service to build custom reports. This positions it towards merchants who need tailored solutions but might lack the in-house expertise to create them. Report Toaster, on the other hand, focuses on real-time data and a wider range of sharing options, including SMS and Slack, appealing to merchants who require immediate insights and collaborative reporting. BR ‑ Better Reports boasts a significantly higher number of reviews, suggesting a larger user base and potentially more extensive testing and feedback. Both apps offer custom reporting, automated report scheduling, and data export capabilities. However, their target audiences and value propositions differ. BR ‑ Better Reports seems to cater more towards merchants prioritizing personalized support and pre-built reports, as highlighted by its complimentary report service and numerous pre-built reports. Report Toaster leans towards merchants seeking real-time data access, greater flexibility in report sharing via SMS and Slack, and a broader selection of report templates (130+). The presence of multi-store reporting in both apps means they can both cater to merchants running multiple Shopify stores, making the differentiating factors revolve around the need for support vs. flexibility in sharing reports.

Our Verdict
For merchants who prioritize personalized service and require custom reports but may lack the technical expertise to build them themselves, BR ‑ Better Reports is the better option. Its complimentary report service offers significant value by handling the complexities of custom report creation. The high volume of reviews also lends credibility to its effectiveness.
However, if a merchant needs real-time data updates and requires a wider array of sharing options like SMS and Slack for collaborative reporting, then Report Toaster: Custom Reports is the stronger choice. Its larger template library also provides a head start for those comfortable with self-service customization. If real time data and flexible sharing options are not necessary, then BR may be the better choice, as it offers a complimentary support service.
