B&S ‑ Add Custom Code vs Coming Soon Pre‑Launch Builderfor Shopify (2026)
B&S ‑ Add Custom Code and Coming Soon Pre‑Launch Builder address very different needs for Shopify merchants in 2026. B&S ‑ Add Custom Code focuses on enabling merchants to inject custom code (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Liquid) into their storefront without requiring advanced programming skills. Its aim is to facilitate integration with services like Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, and allow for custom styling. In contrast, Coming Soon Pre‑Launch Builder targets merchants who are either launching their store or undergoing maintenance, providing a way to create engaging 'coming soon' pages with email collection, countdown timers, and password protection. The primary difference lies in their purpose: B&S ‑ Add Custom Code is for enhancing an existing or fully functional store with custom code and integrations, while Coming Soon Pre‑Launch Builder is for managing the customer experience during the initial launch or downtime of a store. B&S ‑ Add Custom Code caters to merchants who want to customize and extend their store's functionality through code without being developers themselves. Coming Soon Pre‑Launch Builder, on the other hand, is geared toward merchants prioritizing customer engagement and lead generation before launch or during maintenance periods.

Our Verdict
For merchants launching a new store or temporarily taking their store offline for maintenance, Coming Soon Pre‑Launch Builder is the clear choice. Its features like email collection, countdown timers, and password protection are specifically designed for this purpose. The 5-star rating and 34 reviews suggest positive user experiences.
However, if a merchant needs to integrate specific scripts, customize the look and feel of their store with custom CSS, or add specific functionalities not available through standard Shopify options, and lacks direct coding expertise, B&S ‑ Add Custom Code could be useful if it delivers on its promise of an intuitive interface. But the lack of reviews poses a significant risk. Merchants should strongly consider alternatives with established reputations if custom code injection is required.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to use?
Coming Soon Pre-Launch Builder likely offers a more user-friendly experience due to its template-based approach and WYSIWYG editor. B&S ‑ Add Custom Code's ease of use is unknown due to the lack of reviews. Working with code, even with an intuitive interface, can still pose a challenge to non-technical users.
Which app is best for collecting email addresses?
Coming Soon Pre-Launch Builder is explicitly designed for email collection through its integration with services like MailChimp and Klaviyo. B&S ‑ Add Custom Code could potentially be used to integrate an email collection form, but it would require finding and implementing the code manually, a more complex process.
Which app is more reliable?
Coming Soon Pre-Launch Builder appears more reliable given its 5-star rating and 34 reviews, suggesting a history of positive user experiences. B&S ‑ Add Custom Code, with no reviews, lacks any indicators of reliability.
If I need both a coming soon page and custom code, should I use both apps?
Potentially, but it depends on the specific needs and technical skills. If a simple coming soon page is sufficient, Coming Soon Pre-Launch Builder is the better option. If both a coming soon page and specific scripts/customizations are required, using both apps might be necessary, but evaluate other apps that combine both functionalities. Look for established reviews and ratings.
Which app is more suitable for a non-technical user?
Coming Soon Pre-Launch Builder is designed for non-technical users with its customizable templates and intuitive editor. B&S ‑ Add Custom Code, while claiming an intuitive interface, involves working with code snippets, which may be daunting for users without coding experience.
