B&S ‑ Add Custom Code vs XO Sectionsfor Shopify (2026)
In 2026, choosing between B&S ‑ Add Custom Code and XO Sections for Shopify storefront customization requires careful consideration of your technical skills and desired level of control. B&S ‑ Add Custom Code positions itself as a direct code injection tool, allowing merchants to embed JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Liquid code directly into their store. This offers maximum flexibility but requires a degree of programming knowledge, even though they claim no programming knowledge is required. Its primary strength is its ability to add custom tracking codes (like Google Analytics or Facebook Pixel) and implement custom styling. XO Sections, on the other hand, is a no-code section and product page builder. It focuses on ease of use, automatically integrating into the store's theme customization and offering pre-built sections and design options. Its strength lies in its user-friendly interface, allowing merchants to quickly enrich their store's content and create visually appealing pages without needing to write any code. XO Sections is targeted towards merchants who want to customize their store's appearance without deep diving into code, while B&S is for someone who wants to directly manage code snippets in their store.
