BST‑Frequently Bought Together vs ShopSmart AI‑Powered eCommercefor Shopify (2026)
BST-Frequently Bought Together and ShopSmart AI-Powered eCommerce both aim to increase sales for Shopify merchants, but they achieve this through different strategies and target different stages of the customer journey. BST focuses on cross-selling and upselling by recommending complementary products based on customer behavior, mimicking Amazon's "frequently bought together" feature. Its strength lies in its AI-powered product recommendations, customizable widget design, and incentivized bundle discounts. It directly impacts average order value by suggesting additional items at the point of purchase. ShopSmart, on the other hand, acts as an AI-powered sales assistant that guides customers through the product discovery process. ShopSmart's strength lies in its ability to understand customer preferences through conversation, refine product options in real-time based on budget and needs, and provide instant answers to boost trust and conversions. It is designed to improve the shopping experience from the initial search query to cart conversion, particularly beneficial for stores with extensive catalogs or complex product choices. While BST leverages existing purchase patterns, ShopSmart actively engages customers to identify their specific requirements and match them with suitable products.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily focused on increasing average order value through strategic cross-selling and who have a good understanding of which products complement each other, BST-Frequently Bought Together is the stronger choice. Its established customer base (indicated by the higher number of reviews) and Amazon-style bundling approach make it a reliable option. However, for merchants struggling with product discoverability due to a vast or complex catalog, or those seeking to provide a more personalized and interactive shopping experience, ShopSmart AI-Powered eCommerce offers a more comprehensive solution. While it has fewer reviews, its focus on conversational AI and real-time product refinement could be particularly valuable in niche markets or stores with highly customized products.
