BST‑Frequently Bought Together vs Smart Checkout Widgetsfor Shopify (2026)
BST‑Frequently Bought Together and Smart Checkout Widgets both aim to increase Average Order Value (AOV) on Shopify, but they approach this goal with different strategies. BST‑Frequently Bought Together focuses on pre-purchase cross-selling using AI-powered recommendations displayed in customizable widgets, drawing inspiration from Amazon's 'Frequently Bought Together' approach. It is geared towards boosting AOV by suggesting relevant complementary products during the browsing and product viewing stages. Our Verdict
BST‑Frequently Bought Together is a suitable app for general Shopify merchants who want to increase AOV by leveraging AI-driven product recommendations and creating attractive product bundles displayed on product pages. It's easier to setup and use on all Shopify themes. Smart Checkout Widgets is a better choice for Shopify Plus merchants seeking to streamline checkout and offer sophisticated promotions like smart gifts and automatic discounts directly within the checkout experience. Given its exclusive feature set for Plus plans it's highly unlikely to be suitable for regular Shopify stores.
Considering the current data, BST‑Frequently Bought Together appears to have a more established user base with significantly more reviews, which may indicate a higher level of user satisfaction and wider adoption, making it the safer choice for merchants needing a reliable solution.
