BST‑Frequently Bought Together vs SpurIT Upsell Email Marketingfor Shopify (2026)
BST‑Frequently Bought Together and SpurIT Upsell Email Marketing, while both aiming to increase revenue through upselling and cross-selling, take fundamentally different approaches. BST leverages on-site, real-time recommendations based on AI and customer behavior, presented in customizable widgets designed to integrate seamlessly within the store's existing design. SpurIT, on the other hand, focuses on post-purchase email marketing, automating the process of sending relevant product offers to customers after they have already completed an order. This means BST is about capturing immediate purchase intent, while SpurIT is about nurturing ongoing customer engagement and repeat purchases. The primary difference lies in their point of intervention in the customer journey. BST aims to influence the current purchase decision, while SpurIT targets future purchase decisions. BST also offers manual bundle options, providing more direct control, and comprehensive analytics to monitor performance. SpurIT emphasizes ease of setup and automation of email marketing, enabling merchants to turn order confirmation emails into sales opportunities with minimal effort. Therefore, the choice between the two depends heavily on a merchant's strategy and preferred customer engagement style.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking to immediately influence purchasing decisions and provide a dynamic, Amazon-style browsing experience on their store, BST‑Frequently Bought Together is the stronger choice. Its AI-powered recommendations, customizable widgets, and in-depth analytics offer a comprehensive solution for boosting average order value in real time.
However, for merchants who want a hands-off approach to upselling and prioritize building long-term customer relationships through automated email marketing, SpurIT Upsell Email Marketing is the better option. It effectively transforms order confirmation emails into sales opportunities, requiring minimal ongoing management once set up. Merchants should also consider the substantial difference in the number of reviews, implying a longer track record and potentially wider user base for BST, suggesting greater reliability, assuming the higher rating is maintained over time.
