Our Verdict
OTP Login with Phone appears to be the safer choice for most merchants in 2026, given its proven track record (5/5 rating and 39 reviews). Its focus on account security and improved customer login experience is a common need for online stores. The integration with popular SMS providers provides additional value. Bureau Fraud Prevention, while potentially valuable, lacks user feedback and presents a higher risk due to its unproven effectiveness. It may suit businesses experiencing significant fraud issues that warrant exploring a new solution, understanding that they'll be early adopters.
Ultimately, the best choice depends on the merchant's specific pain points. If fraudulent orders are a major problem, Bureau Fraud Prevention might be worth testing, despite the lack of reviews. However, for general security improvements and a better customer experience, OTP Login with Phone is the more reliable and recommended option.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Based on the descriptions, OTP Login with Phone might be slightly easier to set up initially due to its focus on user-facing features like OTP settings and SMS integration. Bureau Fraud Prevention requires more backend configuration and analysis.
Which app is better for reducing chargebacks?
Bureau Fraud Prevention is specifically designed to identify and prevent fraudulent orders, which can directly lead to chargebacks. OTP Login with Phone improves account security, indirectly reducing chargebacks from compromised accounts, but it's not its primary function.
Does OTP Login with Phone prevent fraudulent orders?
OTP Login with Phone strengthens account security, making it harder for fraudsters to access customer accounts. This can indirectly prevent fraudulent orders placed through stolen accounts. However, it doesn't directly analyze orders for fraud like Bureau Fraud Prevention.
Is Bureau Fraud Prevention worth trying with no reviews?
Trying Bureau Fraud Prevention is risky due to the lack of reviews. However, if you are struggling with a lot of fraud, it could be worth trying, but closely monitor its performance and be prepared to uninstall if it doesn't deliver results. Factor in the time it takes to onboard and configure.
What kind of data does each app need to function?
Bureau Fraud Prevention requires access to order data, customer information, and potentially address verification services. OTP Login with Phone needs access to customer phone numbers and/or email addresses to send OTPs. Both require integration with the Shopify platform.
