Buy Button channel vs Payflow: COD & Payment Methodsfor Shopify (2026)
Buy Button channel and Payflow: COD & Payment Methods address vastly different needs within a Shopify store. Buy Button channel focuses on expanding sales channels by embedding direct purchase links on external websites and platforms. It emphasizes ease of use, customization of the button's appearance, and integration with existing Shopify analytics. In contrast, Payflow: COD & Payment Methods centers on optimizing the checkout experience by allowing merchants to control and customize payment and delivery options, particularly for Cash on Delivery (COD). It offers advanced conditional logic to tailor the checkout process to specific customer attributes or order characteristics. The primary difference lies in their purpose: Buy Button channel is for external sales, while Payflow: COD & Payment Methods is for internal checkout optimization. Buy Button channel targets merchants looking to leverage off-site marketing and sales, while Payflow: COD & Payment Methods is tailored for merchants seeking greater control over their payment and delivery options, potentially increasing conversion rates and reducing order fulfillment issues. The contrasting ratings and review counts could indicate the Buy Button channel appeals to a larger user base seeking a simple solution, while Payflow: COD & Payment Methods addresses more specialized needs, resulting in a smaller but potentially more satisfied user group.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily focused on expanding their sales channels beyond their Shopify store, the Buy Button channel offers a simpler, more direct solution. Its strength lies in its ease of use and ability to integrate with external platforms. However, the lower rating suggests potential drawbacks compared to other buy button apps in the marketplace.
Payflow: COD & Payment Methods is a better choice for merchants seeking granular control over their checkout process, especially those heavily reliant on Cash on Delivery or needing to tailor payment and delivery options based on specific conditions. Its higher rating suggests a more robust solution for its target audience, albeit potentially requiring a more technical setup.
