Buy Button channel vs Pinterestfor Shopify (2026)
The Buy Button channel and Pinterest offer distinct approaches to marketing and conversion for Shopify merchants. The Buy Button channel focuses on enabling direct sales from existing websites, blogs, emails, and social media through customizable buy buttons and checkout links. It caters to merchants who already have established online presences and seek to streamline the purchase process. Pinterest, on the other hand, centers around leveraging the Pinterest platform to reach a broader audience, showcase products visually, and drive traffic to the Shopify store. It aims to attract new customers through organic discovery and paid advertising on Pinterest. Buy Button channel emphasizes simplicity and integration with external platforms, whereas Pinterest prioritizes visual discovery and platform-specific marketing. The Buy Button channel empowers merchants to sell from anywhere with ease. Pinterest, with its focus on the Pinterest platform, offers a suite of tools for managing product catalogs, creating shoppable ads, and tracking performance within its ecosystem. Both apps aim to increase sales, but they do so through vastly different channels and strategies. Merchants should carefully consider their existing online presence and marketing goals to determine which app best aligns with their needs.

Our Verdict
For merchants who already have a website, blog, or significant social media presence and want to easily integrate product sales into those channels, the Buy Button channel is a suitable choice. Its simplicity and direct sales focus make it ideal for quickly creating checkout links and buy buttons. On the other hand, for merchants looking to tap into a vast audience and showcase their products visually, especially those selling visually appealing products or products related to home decor, fashion, or DIY, Pinterest is a strong contender. The Pinterest app provides tools for managing product catalogs, running ads, and tracking performance within the Pinterest ecosystem.
While the Buy Button channel allows sales from anywhere, its success hinges on the merchant's existing traffic and reach. Pinterest, however, offers the potential to generate new leads and sales through its platform, even if the merchant has limited existing online visibility. The higher rating and significantly larger number of reviews for the Pinterest app suggest a more positive user experience and broader adoption, potentially indicating a more effective solution for many merchants.
