Buy Button channel vs Supermetricsfor Shopify (2026)
Buy Button channel and Supermetrics, while both falling under Shopify's Operations and Analytics categories, serve vastly different purposes and target distinct merchant needs. Buy Button channel focuses on enabling direct sales from various online locations via customizable buy buttons and checkout links. Its strength lies in its simplicity and direct-to-consumer sales approach, aiming to improve conversion rates by reducing friction in the purchase process for merchants with external websites or blogs. Its target audience is Shopify merchants seeking to extend their sales reach beyond their primary store and to leverage off-platform marketing channels. Supermetrics, on the other hand, is positioned as a data aggregation tool that consolidates marketing and sales data from multiple platforms into a central reporting and analytics hub. Its core value proposition revolves around saving time and improving decision-making by automating data collection and providing a comprehensive view of marketing performance. Supermetrics targets businesses that are already heavily invested in marketing across multiple platforms and need a streamlined way to analyze their data to gain actionable insights. The absence of reviews indicates either its recent release or a significant lack of adoption compared to Buy Button channel.

Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing immediate sales growth and seeking a simple way to sell on external websites or blogs, Buy Button channel is the clear choice. Its established user base (indicated by the 193 reviews and 3.7/5 rating) suggests reliability and a proven track record. The ability to customize the buy button to match brand styling and track sales directly from Shopify further strengthens its appeal for this use case.
Supermetrics, despite its lack of reviews at this time, holds promise for merchants heavily invested in data-driven marketing across multiple channels. If the merchant needs to combine data from many sources into one place for insights it may be considered. However, given the absence of user feedback and a potentially steeper learning curve, merchants should proceed with caution, consider alternative data aggregation tools, and prioritize thorough research and trial periods before committing to Supermetrics over established alternatives.
Common Questions
Which app is better for increasing sales?
Buy Button channel is explicitly designed to increase sales by enabling direct purchases from external websites, blogs, or social media. Supermetrics, while indirectly contributing to better marketing performance, does not directly facilitate sales.
Which app is easier to use?
Based on their descriptions, Buy Button channel appears easier to use. Its primary function is to create and embed buy buttons, which is a relatively straightforward process. Supermetrics, involving data integration and analysis, may require more technical expertise.
Can both apps be used together?
Potentially, but their functionalities are largely independent. Buy Button channel focuses on direct sales, while Supermetrics focuses on data aggregation. Supermetrics might be used to analyze the performance of Buy Button campaigns, but it is not a necessary integration.
What if I only have a Shopify store and no external website?
Buy Button channel is less relevant in this scenario. Its primary value is in facilitating sales outside of the Shopify store. Supermetrics might still be useful if you use other marketing platforms (e.g., Facebook Ads, Google Ads) and want to consolidate their data.
What are the alternatives if Supermetrics has no reviews?
Consider similar data aggregation tools like Funnel.io, Stitch Data, or Integrate.io. Look for apps with positive reviews and established user bases to ensure reliability and support.
