Camouflage: Hide Sold Variants vs EU Energy Label by Staylimefor Shopify (2026)
Camouflage: Hide Sold Variants and EU Energy Label by Staylime, while both boasting perfect 5/5 ratings, cater to fundamentally different Shopify merchant needs. Camouflage directly addresses a common frustration in e-commerce: displaying sold-out variants, leading to potentially annoyed customers. It offers a range of customization options for handling these variants, from hiding them completely to applying visual cues. This app appears to be targeted at a broad range of merchants who are seeking improvements to the standard Shopify storefront behavior concerning product availability. EU Energy Label, on the other hand, focuses on regulatory compliance, specifically the EU's energy labeling and ecodesign regulations. EU Energy Label provides a solution for merchants who sell products falling under these regulations. The app displays energy badges and links to product information sheets, ensuring compliance with EU law and providing customers with the necessary information about energy efficiency. Its automatic updates via the EPREL API are a strong point. The core difference lies in their purpose: Camouflage enhances the user experience and potentially conversion rates, while EU Energy Label focuses on fulfilling a legal requirement and building trust with customers concerned about energy consumption. Both apps are considered 'Design elements' by Shopify, given their influence on the front-end display and user experience.

Its integration with the EPREL database is a key advantage. If you do *not* sell products that need the energy label, then you would not need this app.
Camouflage is the better option if your primary goal is to improve the customer experience on your Shopify store by efficiently managing the display of product variants. Its flexibility in handling sold-out variants through hiding, disabling, or styling can lead to a cleaner and more user-friendly shopping experience. This is a general optimization that most stores will benefit from, whereas Energy Label only applies to a niche of specific regulations.
