Camouflage: Hide Sold Variants vs Flexi ‑ Metafield Custom Fieldfor Shopify (2026)
Camouflage: Hide Sold Variants and Flexi ‑ Metafield Custom Field cater to distinct needs within the Shopify ecosystem, despite sharing the 'Design elements' category. Camouflage focuses on enhancing the customer shopping experience by streamlining product browsing and preventing frustration related to sold-out variants. Its strength lies in its specific functionality: hiding, disabling, or styling sold-out variants based on inventory levels, customer attributes, or geographic location. This app targets merchants who want to improve conversion rates and customer satisfaction by providing a cleaner and more user-friendly product browsing experience. Flexi ‑ Metafield Custom Field, on the other hand, empowers merchants to extend the functionality of their Shopify store by creating custom fields for products, customers, orders, and content. Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with optimizing their store's user experience and preventing customer frustration stemming from sold-out products, Camouflage: Hide Sold Variants is the clear choice. Its targeted functionality is easy to implement and directly addresses a common e-commerce pain point. The high rating and significantly larger number of reviews further bolster its credibility.
However, merchants requiring comprehensive data customization and extended functionality beyond standard Shopify fields should opt for Flexi ‑ Metafield Custom Field. While it may require a steeper learning curve, the ability to create custom fields for various store elements provides unparalleled flexibility in data management and display. This app is better suited for merchants with more complex needs and a willingness to invest time in configuring custom metafields.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Based on their descriptions, Camouflage: Hide Sold Variants is likely easier to set up due to its focused functionality. Flexi ‑ Metafield Custom Field might require more initial configuration to define and implement custom metafields.
Which app has better customer support?
Without direct access to customer support records, it's impossible to say definitively. However, Camouflage's higher number of reviews might suggest a more mature and established support system, though this is not guaranteed.
Can both apps be used together?
Potentially, but they address different needs. Camouflage enhances UX by managing variants, while Flexi enables custom data. They might interact indirectly if metafields are used to determine variant visibility, but this is a complex scenario.

How do the apps handle international selling and multiple languages?
Camouflage mentions the ability to hide variants based on countries, indicating support for international selling. Flexi doesn't explicitly mention language support, but metafields can store translated content, requiring theme customization to display them correctly.
