Camouflage: Hide Sold Variants vs Hubify Product Custom Optionsfor Shopify (2026)
Camouflage: Hide Sold Variants and Hubify Product Custom Options, while both falling under the 'Custom products' and 'Product variants' categories on Shopify, address fundamentally different merchant needs. Camouflage focuses on enhancing the customer experience by managing the visibility of product variants based on inventory levels or other conditions. Its strength lies in preventing customer frustration caused by unavailable options, offering features like hiding, disabling, or styling sold-out variants. This makes it ideal for merchants with a high volume of variants and a need to optimize the shopping journey by clearly indicating availability. Hubify, conversely, is designed to allow customers to customize products before purchase. It provides merchants the ability to add custom text fields, color swatches, dropdowns, delivery dates, and image uploads. The vast difference in user reviews and ratings is a significant indicator of app performance and satisfaction. Camouflage boasts a perfect 5/5 rating based on 233 reviews, suggesting widespread approval and reliability. Hubify, in contrast, has a significantly lower rating of 1/5 with only a single review, which raises concerns about its usability, functionality, and support. Ultimately, one enhances the storefront's user experience while the other enhances the options available to customers when purchasing.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with optimizing the user experience and preventing frustration caused by sold-out items, Camouflage: Hide Sold Variants is the clear choice. Its overwhelmingly positive reviews and focused feature set suggest a reliable and effective solution. Hubify Product Custom Options might be suitable for a niche market focused on highly customized products. However, the extremely low rating and limited reviews raise significant red flags. Merchants should proceed with caution and thoroughly investigate Hubify's functionality and support before committing. New stores, especially, may want to seek other options. Camouflage is suitable for nearly any store with product variants, enhancing discoverability and streamlining the purchasing process for users. Hubify requires a dedicated audience willing to customize their items.
