Camouflage: Hide Sold Variants vs Multi Location Stock infofor Shopify (2026)
Camouflage: Hide Sold Variants and Multi Location Stock info both aim to improve the customer experience on Shopify product pages, but they address entirely different problems. Camouflage focuses on preventing frustration caused by out-of-stock variants. Its strength lies in offering various options for handling sold-out or unavailable variants, allowing merchants to hide, disable, or style them differently based on multiple conditions like inventory levels, customer location, or even custom tags. This benefits merchants selling products with numerous variants who want a cleaner, more efficient presentation of available options. Multi Location Stock info, on the other hand, caters to businesses with multiple physical locations or complex inventory management. It empowers customers to view location-specific stock levels and choose their preferred store before adding items to their cart. This enhances transparency and streamlines fulfillment, appealing to merchants prioritizing location-based shopping and omnichannel experiences. The primary distinction lies in their core focus. Camouflage aims to improve the perception of product availability and reduce customer frustration caused by out-of-stock items. Its features focus on presentation and conditional hiding of variants. Multi Location Stock info prioritizes showcasing inventory across multiple locations, enabling store selection, and supporting location-based marketing strategies. Camouflage addresses the variant selection process itself, while Multi Location Stock info focuses on the pre-purchase inventory check based on geographical locations. Both apps are rated 5/5, but Camouflage has significantly more reviews suggesting a broader adoption and potentially more established reliability.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with improving the presentation of their products and reducing customer frustration caused by out-of-stock items, Camouflage: Hide Sold Variants is the clear choice. Its focus on conditional hiding and styling offers greater control over the variant selection experience. However, businesses with multiple physical locations or those emphasizing omnichannel sales and store-specific inventory should prioritize Multi Location Stock info. The ability to display location-based stock and enable store selection directly addresses the needs of merchants managing complex inventory across multiple locations. While both apps have high ratings, the larger number of reviews for Camouflage suggests a more established and potentially more reliable solution for its specific use case. If you are selling locally, Multi Location Stock info would be best.
Ultimately, the choice depends entirely on the merchant's specific business needs and the problem they are trying to solve. If you primarily sell online with variable stock, go with Camouflage. If you have brick-and-mortar locations and omnichannel sales, Multi Location Stock info is likely the superior choice.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
It's difficult to say definitively without direct experience, but Camouflage likely has a simpler initial setup due to its focus on rules-based hiding, while Multi Location Stock info will require initial configuration of locations and inventory syncing.
Can both apps be used together?
Potentially, but they address different areas of the product page. Using both could lead to a very clean store with no stock issues and customer store selection. You would need to test how they interact to ensure no conflicts occur.
Does Multi Location Stock info help with SEO?
The description mentions highlighting products by location-based collections, which can indirectly improve SEO by creating location-specific landing pages. Camouflage does not seem to affect SEO directly.
Does Camouflage affect product loading speed?
Hiding variants is generally faster than loading all and displaying them. However, complex hiding rules might have a marginal impact on loading speed, but nothing major is mentioned.
Which app is more suitable for a dropshipping business?
Neither app is particularly designed for dropshipping, unless the dropshipper also operates multiple warehouses. Camouflage might be relevant if the dropshipping supplier frequently has out-of-stock variants, allowing for automatic hiding.
