Camouflage: Hide Sold Variants vs Smart Size Chart & Size Guidefor Shopify (2026)
Camouflage: Hide Sold Variants and Smart Size Chart & Size Guide are both highly-rated Shopify apps (5/5) but cater to very different needs within the same broader categories of custom products and product variants. Camouflage directly addresses the issue of sold-out product variants frustrating customers by allowing merchants to hide, disable, or style them based on inventory levels, location, or customer tags. This improves the user experience by preventing customers from selecting unavailable items. Smart Size Chart & Size Guide, on the other hand, focuses on helping customers find the right size for apparel, shoes, jewelry, and other products, ultimately aiming to reduce returns and increase sales. It provides customizable, responsive size charts and guides that integrate with the store's branding. The key difference lies in their core function: Camouflage optimizes the browsing experience when dealing with inventory constraints, while Smart Size Chart optimizes the purchase experience related to size selection.

Our Verdict
For merchants struggling with customers attempting to purchase sold-out variants and facing subsequent frustration, Camouflage: Hide Sold Variants is the clear choice. Its ability to hide, disable, or style these variants based on various conditions provides a direct solution to this specific problem. Its higher review count suggests it may be more widely adopted and proven.
However, if a merchant primarily sells products where sizing is a significant factor (apparel, shoes, etc.), Smart Size Chart & Size Guide is the more relevant and valuable app. Its focus on providing clear and customizable size charts directly addresses the challenge of helping customers find the right fit, leading to reduced returns and increased sales. The multi-language support is a plus for international businesses.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to install?
The description for Smart Size Chart & Size Guide explicitly mentions 'Lightweight app: Installs easily and removes cleanly without leftover code,' suggesting a potentially simpler installation process compared to Camouflage, though Camouflage claims compatibility with many apps so it might not be difficult either. Lacking more data, we cannot definitively say.
Can I use both apps at the same time?
Yes, the apps address different pain points and can be used independently. Camouflage manages variant visibility based on inventory, while Smart Size Chart helps customers find the right size, leading to a better buying experience. No overlapping functionalities exist that would prevent this.
Does Camouflage help with international sales?
Yes, Camouflage allows you to hide variants based on countries. This enables region-specific product availability.
Does Smart Size Chart integrate with my existing theme?
Smart Size Chart highlights its mobile-responsive design, implying compatibility with various themes, adapting to different screen sizes and layouts. The highly customizable features help align it with your existing branding.
If I only sell one-size-fits-all products, do I need Smart Size Chart?
Probably not. Smart Size Chart's primary value comes from helping customers select the right size. If you only sell one-size-fits-all items, the app would be largely unnecessary.
