Camouflage: Hide Sold Variants vs Textbox & Textfield by Textifyfor Shopify (2026)
Camouflage: Hide Sold Variants and Textbox & Textfield by Textify, while both falling under the 'Custom products' and 'Product variants' Shopify categories, cater to fundamentally different needs. Camouflage addresses the problem of frustrating customers with sold-out variants by offering various methods to hide, disable, or style them. It targets merchants seeking to improve the customer experience by ensuring only available products are prominently displayed, avoiding dead ends in the purchasing process. Our Verdict
The choice between Camouflage: Hide Sold Variants and Textbox & Textfield by Textify depends entirely on the merchant's specific needs. If the main pain point is customer frustration due to sold-out variants and a desire for a cleaner product browsing experience, Camouflage is the clear winner. Its high rating and larger number of reviews suggest a well-received and effective solution for this specific issue.
However, if the business model revolves around customizable products, personalization, or the need to collect specific instructions from customers, Textbox & Textfield by Textify is the better choice. While its rating is slightly lower, its purpose is entirely different and addresses a different set of challenges. For merchants selling products with options like engraving or special requests, this app is indispensable. Ultimately, one solves an inventory/availability problem, and the other solves a customization/communication problem.
Common Questions
Can Camouflage: Hide Sold Variants be used to only *grey out* sold-out variants instead of hiding them?
Yes, Camouflage offers the option to strike-through sold out variants, or apply your own styling, providing visual cues instead of completely removing them from view.
Does Textbox & Textfield by Textify work on mobile devices?
The app description indicates styling options, implying the text boxes will integrate seamlessly into your theme. This suggests mobile responsiveness but doesn't explicitly state it. Further research or testing may be needed to confirm mobile compatibility.
Which app is easier to install and configure?
While neither app description provides details on ease of use, the straightforward nature of hiding sold-out variants suggests Camouflage might be slightly simpler to set up initially. Textbox & Textfield likely requires more configuration to create and style the custom fields.
Can Camouflage hide variants based on customer location?
Yes, Camouflage allows hiding variants based on countries, allowing for geographical restrictions.
Does Textbox & Textfield by Textify support conditional logic (e.g., showing a text field only if a certain option is selected)?
The app description does not mention conditional logic. It focuses on creating text fields and other input types, but not on their dynamic display based on customer choices. Further investigation would be required to confirm the presence of such functionality.
