Canteen ‑ Deposits and Fees vs Minmaxify Order Limitsfor Shopify (2026)
Canteen ‑ Deposits and Fees and Minmaxify Order Limits, while both operating within the Shopify checkout ecosystem, address entirely different needs. Canteen focuses on automating the complex world of deposits and fees, catering to merchants who need to manage regulatory requirements, environmental charges, or specific service fees. Minmaxify Order Limits, on the other hand, empowers merchants to control order quantities, preventing overselling, managing promotional campaigns, and setting purchase limits for different customer segments. The core distinction lies in their functionality: Canteen deals with *what* the customer pays (deposits, fees), while Minmaxify focuses on *how much* the customer can buy. Canteen's strength is in its flexibility to configure various fee types with tax controls and POS support. Minmaxify shines in its ability to apply conditional rules based on price, quantity, and weight, and its easy setup, promising a code-free experience. They both aim to improve the shopping experience, but through very different mechanisms.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with managing deposits, environmental fees, or other mandatory charges (like those in the beverage industry needing to handle Pfand or CRV), Canteen ‑ Deposits and Fees is the clear choice. Its focus on automating these complex rules with tax controls and POS support makes it uniquely suited for this purpose.
However, if a merchant's primary goal is to control order quantities, prevent overselling of promotional items, or set limits for wholesale customers, Minmaxify Order Limits is the better option. Its strength lies in its ease of use and its ability to apply conditional rules based on price, quantity, and customer segments, making it ideal for managing inventory and optimizing sales strategies. The lack of discount support in Minmaxify might be a dealbreaker for some.
Common Questions
Can both apps work together on the same Shopify store?
Potentially, but their functionalities are distinct. Canteen manages fees, while Minmaxify controls quantities. There's no inherent conflict unless their settings inadvertently impact each other's calculations or visibility at checkout. Careful configuration is needed.
Does Canteen support international deposit systems?
The description mentions Pfand, CRV, Statiegeld, and Consigne, suggesting it is designed to handle various international deposit systems for bottles, cans, and containers.
Is Minmaxify suitable for flash sales with limited quantities?
Yes, Minmaxify is well-suited for flash sales as it allows you to set maximum order limits per customer, preventing a single customer from purchasing the entire stock.
Does Canteen integrate with other apps?
The description only explicitly mentions seamless integration with Shopify POS. Further research is needed to determine integrations with other relevant apps, such as accounting or inventory management systems.
Does Minmaxify slow down the checkout process?
While the description emphasizes ease of use, performance impact isn't mentioned. Extensive rules and cart notifications could potentially add processing time, especially with large carts. Merchants should test thoroughly to ensure a smooth checkout experience.
