Canteen ‑ Deposits and Fees vs SB Request a Quote, Hide Pricefor Shopify (2026)
Canteen - Deposits and Fees and SB Request a Quote, Hide Price are both Shopify apps focused on pricing strategies, but cater to very different needs and target audiences. Canteen focuses on automating mandatory deposits and fees, primarily for businesses dealing with refundable deposits or environmental fees like bottle deposits (Pfand, CRV, etc.). Its strength lies in its flexibility in configuring fee rules, tax controls, and POS support. SB Request a Quote, Hide Price, on the other hand, is designed for B2B merchants who want to hide prices and encourage customers to request quotes, ultimately aiming to generate leads and facilitate price negotiation. The core difference lies in their functionality. Canteen directly adds fees to the cart based on defined rules, making it ideal for businesses that need to comply with regulations or manage deposit systems. SB Request a Quote, Hide Price doesn't directly manage fees but alters the purchasing flow by replacing the standard 'Add to Cart' with a 'Request a Quote' option. It further provides AI lead scoring and integrates with marketing platforms. Choosing between the two depends on whether you need to *implement* fees or *negotiate* prices.
