Our Verdict
The choice between Canteen and Virtue hinges entirely on the merchant's primary objective. Canteen is a must-have for businesses legally obligated to collect deposits or wanting to automate the addition of various fees; its rules engine and POS integration are critical for this use case. Virtue is the superior option for merchants prioritizing social impact and seeking to align their brand with charitable causes. Virtue enables a philanthropic customer experience that supports sustainability goals. If a merchant needs both features, they should consider whether the functionality can be adequately covered by a single app or if separate dedicated apps are required.
