Our Verdict
For merchants facing a significant threat from bots and fraudulent orders, Cart Block: checkout validator is the clear choice. Its focus on security measures, dynamic Captchas, and blocking based on multiple conditions provides essential protection. However, for businesses primarily concerned with managing inventory, enforcing purchase policies, handling wholesale orders, or running flash sales effectively, Nexo ‑ Order Limits Quantity offers a more tailored solution with its quantity limits, customer segmentation, and purchase history-based restrictions. Nexo is the better option when the main goal is about optimising sales and stock management. While both apps offer order limit functionality, Cart Block's use case is really about protection against bad actors.
Common Questions
What's the key difference between blocking and limiting?
Blocking completely prevents a transaction, often due to suspected fraud. Limiting allows a transaction but restricts the quantity or frequency based on predefined rules.
Which app is better for preventing scalpers?
Cart Block is useful for preventing scalpers using bots, but Nexo is better for limiting the number of items any single customer can purchase, regardless of bot activity.
Can both apps be used together?
Potentially, but there could be conflicts. Nexo's limits might be overridden by Cart Block's broader blocking rules. Careful configuration is needed to avoid unexpected behavior.
Which app is better for a B2B store?
Nexo is significantly better for B2B stores due to its customer tag and purchase history-based restrictions, allowing for customized wholesale policies.
Does either app offer detailed reporting?
The app descriptions don't specify reporting features. Contacting the developers directly would be best to confirm if they have this capability.
