Cart Lock:Block Checkout Rules vs MinCart ‑ Order limitsfor Shopify (2026)
Cart Lock:Block Checkout Rules focuses primarily on fraud prevention and order validation using flexible rules to block unwanted transactions and bots. Its strength lies in its ability to block based on country, amount, quantity, customer profiles, discounts, and more, with a particular emphasis on bot prevention. It's designed for merchants who are experiencing issues with fraudulent orders, bots inflating inventory counts, or those needing to strictly control who can place orders. MinCart ‑ Order limits, on the other hand, is geared toward merchants needing to manage order sizes and value, particularly those with B2B or wholesale operations. It allows merchants to set minimum and maximum order limits based on a variety of criteria including product, variant, collection, vendor, tag, product type, weight, price, and quantity. The core difference lies in the focus: Cart Lock aims to block unwanted activity, while MinCart aims to manage order sizes and value. MinCart offers more granular control over setting limits, allowing 'if' statements, start/end dates, translations and checkout extension integration which is absent from Cart Lock. Cart Lock's Shopify Functions integration is aimed at real-time order validation. Both apps share the 'Order Limits' and 'Checkout' category, but tackle it from different angles, impacting their target merchant profiles and overall value propositions.
