Catalog Maker by EasyCatalog vs Essential Grid Galleryfor Shopify (2026)
Catalog Maker by EasyCatalog and Essential Grid Gallery are both Shopify apps focusing on visual merchandising, but they cater to distinct needs and business models. Catalog Maker focuses on creating downloadable (PDF) and online (flipbook) catalogs, price lists, and line sheets, primarily aimed at B2B and wholesale merchants. Its strength lies in automating catalog creation, integrating with wholesale channels, and providing features like wholesale pricing and variant tables directly within the catalog. Essential Grid Gallery, on the other hand, is designed for enhancing the online storefront by showcasing products and portfolios through diverse gallery formats like lookbooks, shoppable videos, and Instagram feeds, mainly targeting D2C and retail businesses aiming to improve conversion through engaging visuals. The primary difference lies in the output format and intended use. Catalog Maker is about creating documents (primarily PDFs and flipbooks) that can be used for offline sales or B2B transactions. Essential Grid Gallery is about embedding dynamic visual content directly into the Shopify storefront to enhance the customer experience and drive immediate sales. While both apps deal with visual presentation, they address different stages of the sales process and target different audiences. Both share "Images and media" and "Image gallery" Shopify categories and both sport nearly identical high review counts. However, Catalog Maker's wholesale channel focus contrasts sharply with Essential Grid Gallery's direct-to-consumer engagement.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily engaged in wholesale or B2B sales, needing to generate PDF catalogs, line sheets, and wholesale pricing, Catalog Maker by EasyCatalog is the clear choice. The wholesale channel integration and automated catalog creation features provide significant value. For retailers and D2C brands focused on enhancing their online storefront and improving customer engagement through visually appealing galleries, lookbooks, and shoppable videos, Essential Grid Gallery is the better option. Its focus on interactive elements and social media integration aligns perfectly with the needs of online retailers.
While Essential Grid Gallery has a slightly higher rating, the choice depends heavily on the business model. A business needing catalogs won't get that feature from Essential Grid, and vice versa. The apps fulfill fundamentally different requirements and use cases.
