Cavalier vs OTP Login with Phonefor Shopify (2026)
Cavalier and OTP Login with Phone both fall under the 'Security - Other' category in the Shopify app store, but they address vastly different security concerns and target distinct audiences. Cavalier, offered by Hudson Rock, focuses on internal security by monitoring a website's domain for compromised employee and user credentials, aiming to prevent unauthorized access from within. It's a proactive measure against insider threats or account takeovers. OTP Login with Phone, on the other hand, prioritizes customer account security and ease of use by replacing traditional password-based login with one-time passwords sent via SMS or email. This reduces the risk of password-related breaches and offers a smoother login experience for customers. It caters to merchants seeking to enhance customer data security and streamline the login process, especially on mobile devices. The significant difference lies in the nature of security they offer: Cavalier targets internal/employee security breaches, while OTP Login targets external/customer breaches.

Our Verdict
OTP Login with Phone appears to be the stronger choice for most Shopify merchants in 2026, given its established user base (39 reviews) and perfect 5/5 rating. It directly addresses a common pain point - customer login security - and offers a tangible benefit to the customer experience. Cavalier's lack of reviews and focus on a more specialized threat (compromised internal accounts) make it a niche product.
However, Cavalier could be valuable to larger organizations or those in highly regulated industries where insider threats are a major concern. If internal security is a top priority and a merchant already has security protocols in place, Cavalier might be a worthwhile addition. For the vast majority of Shopify stores looking to improve customer account security and user experience, OTP Login with Phone is the better option.
Common Questions
Which app offers better protection against brute-force password attacks?
OTP Login with Phone effectively eliminates the risk of brute-force password attacks by replacing passwords with one-time codes.
Does Cavalier protect against customer account breaches?
Cavalier focuses on monitoring for compromised employee and user credentials, not directly protecting customer accounts from external breaches. It mainly helps with internal breaches.
Which app is easier to implement and manage?
OTP Login with Phone likely offers a simpler implementation, focusing on a defined feature (OTP login). Cavalier's integration with the Cavalier Web App may require more configuration and ongoing monitoring.
Can OTP Login with Phone be used for employee login as well?
While OTP Login with Phone is primarily designed for customer login, it technically *could* be adapted for employee login, though it's not its intended purpose. Cavalier is specifically designed for that use case.
If I only need one security app, which one should I choose?
If your primary concern is securing customer accounts and improving the login experience, OTP Login with Phone is the better choice. If you're primarily concerned about internal threats and unauthorized access by compromised employees, Cavalier may be more relevant.
