CC Order Rules vs RuffRuff Order Limitsfor Shopify (2026)
CC Order Rules and RuffRuff Order Limits are both Shopify apps designed to provide merchants with greater control over order restrictions and sales strategies. While both boast perfect 5/5 ratings, RuffRuff Order Limits has significantly more reviews (15) compared to CC Order Rules (1), suggesting greater user adoption and potentially more validation of its claims. CC Order Rules focuses on core restrictions like quantity limits, pre-orders, time-limited sales, and customer-specific rules based on login or tags. It emphasizes validation through the Cart and Checkout Validation API. RuffRuff Order Limits takes a broader approach, marketing itself as an "all-in-one" solution by including quantity, price, weight, and bundle limits, alongside customer and payment restrictions. It further emphasizes customization options for appearance, alert timing, and quantity pickers. The key differentiator lies in the breadth of features offered and the emphasis on user experience through customization. A merchant choosing between these apps must consider whether they need highly specific features like payment method hiding or weight-based restrictions, or prioritize a more streamlined approach to order management.

Our Verdict
If a merchant needs a focused app for fundamental order restrictions, particularly with pre-order and customer tag-based conditions, CC Order Rules might suffice. Its reliance on the Cart and Checkout Validation API also suggests a robust integration with Shopify's checkout process. However, the limited number of reviews raises concerns about its reliability in 2026.
RuffRuff Order Limits is the stronger choice for merchants seeking a comprehensive solution with a wider range of features, including payment restrictions and weight limits. The higher review count provides more confidence in its stability and usability. While the 'all-in-one' approach might add complexity, its extensive customization options allow merchants to tailor the app to their specific needs. Therefore, RuffRuff is generally recommended unless a very specific feature in CC Order Rules (validated API calls) is crucial.
Common Questions
Which app offers more advanced customer segmentation?
Both apps support customer-specific restrictions. CC Order Rules explicitly mentions restrictions based on customer tags and login requirements. RuffRuff Order Limits mentions conditions like customer tags or membership status. The actual level of sophistication in segmentation would require further investigation into their settings and options, but they both offer customer restrictions.
Which app is better for merchants selling products with varying weights?
RuffRuff Order Limits is the clear choice, as it explicitly supports weight limits (g, kg, lb, oz) and on-store weight display. CC Order Rules does not mention weight limits.
Does either app offer volume discounts?
Neither app explicitly mentions volume discounts. Both apps handle quantity limits, which could be used in conjunction with manual price adjustments to simulate a volume discount, but they do not natively support automated discount tiers.
Which app is easier to use?
Ease of use is subjective, but RuffRuff Order Limits’ emphasis on customization suggests a focus on user experience. However, CC Order Rules' simpler feature set could also make it easier to configure if only basic restrictions are needed. More reviews may help ascertain which one is easier to use. With only 1 review, CC Order Rules' user experience is untested.
Which app has better long-term support and development?
It's difficult to predict long-term support. However, RuffRuff Order Limits, with its greater number of reviews, might indicate a more established developer and a higher likelihood of continued support and updates. CC Order Rules could still have excellent support, but there's less public evidence of this.
