Chargeback: Auto Prevention vs Fraud Falcon ‑ Block & Preventfor Shopify (2026)
Chargeback: Auto Prevention and Fraud Falcon ‑ Block & Prevent are both Shopify apps designed to help merchants combat fraud and chargebacks, but they approach the problem from different angles. Chargeback: Auto Prevention focuses on automatically preventing chargebacks *after* a dispute has been initiated by refunding the transaction. It's positioned as a hands-off, 'set it and forget it' solution. This app is geared toward merchants seeking a simple, automated way to mitigate the negative consequences of chargebacks (fees, money holds, account shutdown). Fraud Falcon, on the other hand, aims to *prevent* fraudulent orders from being placed in the first place through customizable rules and filters. It offers more control over the process, allowing merchants to define specific conditions that trigger actions such as order cancellation, review holds, or alerts. The app caters to merchants who want to actively manage their fraud prevention strategies and tailor them to their specific business needs and risk profiles. The setup wizard and allowlisting features offer customization not available in Chargeback: Auto Prevention.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking a completely hands-off approach to mitigating the negative effects of chargebacks after they've been initiated, Chargeback: Auto Prevention is likely the better choice. Its automated refund process offers a simple solution for maintaining smooth operations.
However, merchants who prefer a proactive and customizable solution with more control over their fraud prevention strategy will find Fraud Falcon more suitable. Its fraud filter rules and setup wizard provide the flexibility to tailor the app to their specific business needs and risk profile. The higher rating, while based on fewer reviews, suggests potentially stronger satisfaction for merchants who need its specific functionality.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Chargeback: Auto Prevention likely has a simpler initial setup due to its focus on automation and 'no work required'. Fraud Falcon, while offering a setup wizard, requires more configuration to define specific fraud rules.
Does Chargeback: Auto Prevention block fraudulent customers?
No, Chargeback: Auto Prevention does not directly block customers. It mitigates the impact of chargebacks by automatically refunding transactions *after* a dispute is initiated.
Which app is better for businesses with high-risk products?
Fraud Falcon is likely the better choice for high-risk products, as its customizable fraud filters allow merchants to proactively block potentially fraudulent orders based on various risk factors.
Can I use both apps simultaneously?
Chargeback: Auto Prevention's description explicitly states it does not work with other chargeback alert services.
