Chargeback Specialist vs Fraud Controlfor Shopify (2026)
Chargeback Specialist and Fraud Control both target fraud prevention on Shopify, but they approach the problem from different angles. Chargeback Specialist focuses on recovering revenue lost to chargebacks by automating dispute responses with AI and human oversight. It positions itself for fast-growing, high-volume stores seeking to minimize manual work associated with chargeback management. Fraud Control, conversely, emphasizes proactive fraud prevention by providing analytics and tools to identify and block suspicious checkouts before orders are placed. It aims to give merchants insight into their fraud risk and automate fraud operations to maximize revenue. While both apps address fraud, Chargeback Specialist is reactive (chargeback recovery) whereas Fraud Control is preventative (blocking fraudulent orders).

Our Verdict
For high-volume stores struggling with chargebacks and lacking the resources for manual dispute resolution, Chargeback Specialist appears to be the better option. Its AI-powered automation and human oversight offer a comprehensive solution for recovering lost revenue. On the other hand, Fraud Control is more suitable for merchants who prioritize proactive fraud prevention and want to gain a deeper understanding of their store's fraud risk. If a merchant is happy to set up rules and flows to manage fraudulent orders, Fraud Control is likely to be more appropriate. The lower rating of Fraud Control warrants further investigation into the review details before making a final decision.
Common Questions
