Chargeback Specialist vs FraudLabs Pro Fraud Preventionfor Shopify (2026)
Chargeback Specialist and FraudLabs Pro Fraud Prevention both aim to help Shopify merchants mitigate fraud, but they approach the problem from different angles and target different stages of the fraud lifecycle. Chargeback Specialist focuses on *recovering* revenue lost to unfair chargebacks after they've already occurred. It uses AI and human review to build compelling dispute responses. Their marketing suggests they target high-volume, fast-growing e-commerce brands. In contrast, FraudLabs Pro Fraud Prevention is positioned as a preventative tool, focusing on *analyzing and detecting* high-risk orders *before* they result in chargebacks. It offers real-time analysis and customizable rules for fraud prevention. The key difference lies in their proactive vs. reactive strategies. FraudLabs Pro aims to stop fraudulent orders from being placed in the first place, while Chargeback Specialist aims to win back revenue after a chargeback has already been filed. The customer reviews are a key differentiator, with Chargeback Specialist having a perfect rating, albeit with a smaller sample size, compared to FraudLabs Pro's much lower rating. Consider the business stage: established stores dealing with chargeback disputes may value Chargeback Specialist while those worried about first-time fraudulent orders may consider FraudLabs Pro.

Our Verdict
For established, high-volume e-commerce businesses struggling with a significant number of chargebacks, Chargeback Specialist appears to be the better choice. Its AI-powered dispute responses, combined with human review, offer a potentially higher success rate in recovering lost revenue. The one-click activation is also a significant advantage. However, for smaller businesses or those just starting out, FraudLabs Pro Fraud Prevention might be a suitable tool to prevent fraudulent orders early on. While its rating is lower, the customizable rules allow for a more tailored approach to fraud prevention, although it requires technical expertise to configure effectively.
If you are experiencing a high volume of chargebacks that you are losing, Chargeback Specialist is likely the better solution. If you are trying to minimize fraud from the start and have the time and technical expertise to create validation rules, FraudLabs Pro Fraud Prevention might be sufficient.
